GIC’s Fresh Packing & Weighing Solutions On Show At PPMA 26
GIC, the specialist vertical form fill and seal packaging machinery manufacturer, will showcase its fresh new approach to weighing and bagging at this year’s PPMA Show.
Visitors to stand C50 at the NEC between 22nd and 24th September will be able to see the company’s new GIC200 VFFS machine interfaced directly to a Cotswold mechanical weigher.
GIC will pair the GIC200 with a twin-lane CMW4000 weigher to pack mints on-stand, giving people a live demonstration of the accuracy, speed and efficiency that can be achieved through the integration.
Gainsborough-based GIC, which has been in business for more than 40 years, bought the intellectual property, stock, and spare parts inventory of Cotswold Mechanical Weighers in 2025 following the company’s liquidation.
Since then, GIC has developed the GIC200 intermittent-motion pneumatic machine with motorised film feed, ideal for producing a wide range of pack formats with bag widths of 30mm–250mm. The GIC200 incorporates robust, proven mechanical design and the latest Rockwell Allen Bradley controls to ensure industry-leading reliability and low cost of ownership.
The company has also introduced a larger sibling to the GIC200, the GIC400, which can produce bags up to 400mm wide. As well as coffee and powders, the new machines are also suited to packing snacks, confectionery, hardware, powders, pulses, pet foods, fresh foods and liquids.
Established in 1995, Cotswold Mechanical Ltd manufactured linear weighing and counting machines, conveyors, and product handling systems for use in a wide range of industries, including food, pharmaceutical, agricultural and hardware production.
The Cotswold Mechanical range of linear weighers comprises nine models, offering a weighing range of 1g to 50kg, and includes entry-level machines for dry, free-flowing materials, through to more advanced systems for handling more challenging products.
The CMW4000 weigher on GIC’s stand is a versatile linear design that handles a wide range of products, especially higher-density materials. It features dual-stage vibratory feeding to deliver smooth, controlled product flow into the weighpan. It is capable of weighing from 25g to 2kg and at up to 15 weighments per minute, making it ideally suited to weighing snack foods, pet foods, confectionery, prepared vegetables, frozen foods, horticultural products and beverage products.
As well as the GIC200 and CMW4000, a GIC8000 high-speed continuous motion VFFS machine will also be on-stand.
