GIC proves to be more than capable for Griffith Foods

This month (January 2025) marks one year since Griffith Foods installed a GIC4100, bringing a capability-driven project to a successful conclusion.

The US-owned product development company was looking to improve efficiencies by transferring some of its sauce business from Spain to Somercotes so that it could reduce food miles.

Having worked with GIC before, the engineering team had no hesitation in approaching the Gainsborough-based vertical form fill and seal packaging machinery manufacturer. In fact, it was a GIC4100 servo complete with a fully integrated twin-servo pump system that was packing the sauce in Spain.

After undertaking due diligence and looking at alternative suppliers, Griffith Foods opted to stick with the tried and tested GIC machine for its brand-new line.

The GIC4100 Servo with a standalone turbo is designed to pack the sauce into 500g pillow packs at 30 bags per minute, and 4kg pillow packs, which run up to five packs per minute, is now marking a year of reliable and efficient operation.

“Having spoken to Andy and Keith a couple of times, we very quickly got a feeling that they were the right partner for us,” says Tony. “They’re a great team at GIC. They’re very easy to work with. They take their engineering very seriously and did a good job of giving us the machine we needed,” says Tony Pearce, Project Engineer.
